Most startups build the product first and the brand second. It's backwards.

A strong brand doesalleasier — sell, recruit, partner, PR. Here is the process.

Step 1: Define your position

Answer three questions:

  1. Whodo you help
  2. Whatdo you solve
  3. Whyshould they choose you over the alternatives?

Can't answer in 10 seconds? Back to the drawing board.

Step 2: Find your voice

Your brand speaks. How does that sound?

  • Formallylike a bank? (Sad but safe)
  • Playfullylike ZORC? (Brave and memorable)
  • Expertlylike McKinsey? (Authoritarian)

Pick ONE tone and stick to it. Consistency > perfection.

Step 3: Visual identity

Now — and only now — you design:

  • Logotype
  • Color palette (max. 3 colors + neutrals)
  • Typography (1-2 fonts max)
  • Image style

Step 4: Brand experience

Every contact point should feel likesame company:

  • Web
  • Social media
  • E-mail
  • Customer service
  • Physical materials

Step 5: Tell your story

People don't buy products — they buystories. Your founding story, your mission, your vision. Make it personal.

Brand = promise

Your brand is a promise to the market. Make sure you keep it.
