Claude vs ChatGPT – the short version

ChatGPT (GPT-4o and o3) from OpenAI is better known, has more integrations and is strong in code generation and image analysis. Claude (Sonnet 4 and Opus 4) from Anthropic is generally stronger at long-form text, analytical reasoning and follows instructions more precisely. For most Swedish companies, there is no big difference in everyday use - but for specific use cases, the choice matters.

What ChatGPT does better

ChatGPT has a wider ecosystem of plugins and integrations via the GPT Store. It is also stronger at image generation through the DALL·E integration and has good support for voice interaction in the mobile app. For code generation and debugging, GPT-4o and o3 are extremely capable. ChatGPT is also the first choice when you want to use real-time web search.

What Claude does better

Claude is generally stronger on long, complex content: reports, analyses, complex instructional documents. The model follows detailed instructions more carefully and maintains tonality and style better over long texts. In reading comprehension and analytical reasoning benchmarks, Claude is equal to or above GPT-4o. For legal and medical analysis, there is an established opinion in the industry that Claude is more cautious and reliable.

Price difference 2026

Paid ChatGPT Plus costs $20 per month. Claude Pro costs the same – 20 USD or about 210 kroner per month. At the API level, the price differences are more complex and depend on which model you use and how much. For Teams and Enterprise plans, both are in a similar price range.

For which use cases should you choose what?

Choose ChatGPT if you primarily need: image generation, a large ecosystem of third-party integrations, or if your team is already embedded in OpenAI's API.

Choose Claude if you primarily need: long-form text generation and editing, complex analyzes and reports, code review where the explanation is as important as the code, or if you value a more cautious and analytical AI behavior.

Many successful teams use both – Claude for writing and analysis, ChatGPT for coding and image work.

GDPR and data protection – an important factor for Swedish companies

Both Anthropic and OpenAI are US companies, which means data protection considerations apply when using sensitive corporate data. Both offer Enterprise Agreements with Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) for GDPR compliance. Neither should be used with confidential client information without such an agreement in place.
